Founded in 2017 by Sharif Sharifi, Modus Coffee began as a small 100 sq. ft. operation built entirely from the ground up—with little more than a passion for making specialty coffee more approachable. What started as a simple roasting space has since evolved into a thoughtful, community-focused roastery and café known for its clear, seasonal coffee profiles and emphasis on accessibility. Sharif and his team have grown Modus through organic, hands-on effort, choosing to stay independent and sustainable without outside investors. Their sourcing philosophy centers on building long-term relationships with producers—especially those newer to the specialty market or working with limited resources—while maintaining a deep respect for quality and collaboration. Through it all, Modus remains grounded in its mission: to keep things small, focused, and always driven by great coffee.
