Curious about what happens when two coffee champions team up? Meet Black & White Coffee Roasters, our new international feature from Raleigh, North Carolina! Founded by none other than Lem Butler, the 2016 US Barista Champion, and Kyle Ramage, the 2017 US Barista Champion, this dynamic duo is on a mission to share the exceptional coffees that ignited their passion on the competition stage.

Their combined talents have resulted in a unique blend of something new, powerful, and some of the most interesting coffees you can find in the specialty coffee scene.

One of the coffees we have decided to bring in is a thermal chock Chiroso produced by Wilton Benitez. As a variety, Chiroso tends to be vibrant and bright, with pronounced acidity and pleasant florality. Sounds pretty great, right? When met with Wilton's meticulous thermal shock processing protocol, this already-lovely coffee became tropical and juicy in the cup, reminding us of Kool-Aid, fruit cocktail, and the copious amounts of popsicles we used to consume in between summer swim sessions. Sweet like turbinado sugar and reminiscent of crisp white wine, the flavor experience as a whole makes us think of white sangria - which in turn makes us long for the beach.
