Curious about what happens when two coffee champions team up? Meet Black & White Coffee Roasters, our new international feature from Raleigh, North Carolina! Founded by none other than Lem Butler, the 2016 US Barista Champion, and Kyle Ramage, the 2017 US Barista Champion, this dynamic duo is on a mission to share the exceptional coffees that ignited their passion on the competition stage.

Their combined talents have resulted in a unique blend of something new, powerful, and some of the most interesting coffees you can find in the specialty coffee scene.

One of the coffees we have decided to bring in is this anaerobic washed coffee from producer Nelson Moreno. This coffee is supremely sweet, due in large part to the microclimate and the varieties used, but it's also nuanced and complex, thanks to elevation and Nelson's careful processing. The combination of big fruit character (think peaches, apricot, and pear) AND big baked good vibes gives us some really complex flavor notes, like peach galette and poached pear. The whole cup is wrapped up in a nutty sweetness reminiscent of almond toffee, making the experience both a very approachable one for sharing with your family, and also a very elevated one for discussing around the cupping table. Striking this sort of balance is no easy task, but la Familia de Morenos does it time and time again.
