How to Make French Press Cold Brew

Cold Brew has been all the rage since the early 2000s! Why is that?

In recent years, cold brew coffee has surged in popularity, capturing the attention of coffee lovers and casual drinkers alike. Different from iced coffee, cold brew is coffee steeped in cold water for an extended period of time. For this reason, cold brew tends to be smoother and less acidic than iced coffee.

This refreshing yet smooth alternative to iced coffee is not just a passing trend, but a delicious drink that will stand the test of time, especially with so many ways to enjoy it! In an issue of our subscription, we broke down 3 Fun Ways to Level-Up Your Coffee for Summer, using a simple cold brew concentrate recipe! So, without further ado, let's dive into this simple French press cold brew recipe to get you started. 

What You Need:

  1. French press
  2. Scale
  3. Grinder
  4. 50g of medium-coarsely ground coffee
  5. 600g of cold or room temperature water

The Steps:

Step 1: Grind the coffee!

Add 50g of medium-coarsely ground coffee to the French press.

Step 2: Pour the water

Pour 600g of room temperature or cold water into the French press

Step 3: Cover the French press

Cover with French press with the lid without plunging. (You can also use plastic wrap!).

Step 4: Let it sit

Leave the French press in the fridge for 18-24 hours.

Step 5: Push the plunger down

After 18-24 hours, push the plunger down and store in a separate container.

Step 6: Dilute to taste

Dilute your cold brew to taste with ice, water, or milk. The remaining coffee will last about three days in the fridge!
