Rooftop Coffee Roasters
Rooftop Coffee Roasters started exactly where the name suggests: on a rooftop. In 2015, 16-year-old Keegan Street convinced his parents to let him buy a home roaster after moving from Calgary to Fernie. His first batch was roasted in their kitchen, which was instantly filled with smoke. So, he took the second batch to the rooftop patio. What started as a smoky experiment quickly became a business plan by graduation, and a full-fledged company by June 2016. By 2020, they were awarded Fernie’s New Business of the Year, putting their mountain town firmly on the specialty coffee map.
