Description

From Coffee Wallas: Our experience at Kerehaklu really made us realize how overlooked Indian coffee was. We knew Indian coffee could be good, but this was another level. It was a fresh perspective on a coffee origin that we barely get to try in North America.

We first tasted Pranoy Thipaiah's lots during our trip to Chikmagalur, India in February 2025, and his processing and fermentation made his coffees stand out.

Pranoy is younger and scrappier and comes at coffee with an open mind. He uses his biology background and applies it directly to his fermentation experiments. Turns out, the right microbial activity can make magic—and these experiments are producing cup profiles that people (us included) didn't think were possible with Indian coffee.

The cultured washed method gives this coffee a beautiful transparency; you can taste the quality of the plum, dark cherry and dried apricot without having "processing flavour" get in the way. There's a caramel sweetness in the finish that lingers, and a soft acidity that balanced the cup.
