Fernie, British Columbia

Rooftop Coffee Roasters

Rooftop Coffee Roasters started (you guessed it) on a rooftop. In 2015, 16-year-old Keegan Street convinced his parents to let him buy a home roaster after moving from Calgary to Fernie. The kitchen filled with the smell of fresh beans, his mom sent him to the roof, and the name stuck. By graduation, Keegan had a business plan. By June 2016, a company. They've since won Fernie's New Business of the Year and turned a mountain town into a specialty coffee destination.
