A Flashbrew Paloma Recipe
Escape Coffee Roasters is selling Triple A as a Flashbrew can! Flashbrew is hot brewed, then flash chilled and canned immediately with nitrogen to kick the oxygen out. It results in a crisp, clean iced coffee!
Escape shared with us a cocktail recipe that uses the Flashbrew and gave us a cheat method to make it with a Triple A homemade iced brew!
“Triple A translates really well to cold brew and Flashbrew. Because it is a washed coffee, it is very bright and crisp, and it works so well being iced,” Ulysse Gélinas-Roy, the Head Roaster at Escape Coffee Roasters, raved.
When we asked David Boucher, the Co-Founder of Escape Coffee Roasters, if we could include one of their cocktail recipes, he responded, “I would strongly suggest the Paloma – it is soooo good.” So here it is!
To make the iced brew:
Take your standard V60 recipe but double the amount of coffee and add the same amount of water you use as ice to your carafe. Keep the same grind size.
For example:
• 40g of coffee
•340ml of water for brewing
•340g of ice in the carafe
To brew: 1 bloom for 30 seconds, and then 2 pours. The total brew time should be about 3m30s.
To make the cocktail:
What you need:
• 1.5 oz of Tequila
• 0.7 oz of elderflower liqueur
• 1 oz of Triple A cold/iced brew
• 0.75 oz of fresh grapefruit juice
• 0.50oz of fresh lime juice
• 2.25 oz of simple syrup
• A slice of grapefruit and salt for the rim as garnish
• A shaker (or a jar with a lid), a fine mesh strainer, and a glass
What you do:
• Salt the glass rim by running a lime wedge on its rim, then dip it in salt.
• Pour all the ingredients into a shaker.
• Add ice cubes and shake vigorously.
• Use the fine mesh strainer to double filter into the glass filled with ice.
• Squeeze the grapefruit wedge and garnish the cocktail.
