How to Brew a Great cup of Coffee

Making coffee can be pretty simple and a lot of people rely on their automatic coffee maker – but just because a cup of joe is made, doesn’t mean that it is great. There are quite a few factors that you can change to make sure your coffee isn’t overly bitter or sour. That’s the goal – to ensure the flavor profile of the bean is at the forefront so that you don’t need to douse the beverage with sugar or cream to make it tolerable.

Gabriel de Carvalho Dias owns a farm in Brazil and is the head roaster at Carvalho Coffee in Oakville, Ontario. His coffee has won awards at the Cup of Excellence, which is often referred to as the Oscars of the coffee world. He knows coffee… and that’s an understatement.

In this video below, he explains that by paying attention to factors like water temperature, extraction time, coffee to water ratio (and more), you can make sure your coffee loses it’s bitterness and tastes amazing. It may sound complicated, but in 6:09 seconds you’ll learn a heck of a lot and become a coffee making guru!

He uses the Hario clear dripper, a Buono Kettle, the brown paper filters, a decanter and a scale. Want to give this a shot? Use the coupon code HOW2MKCOFF this week (code expires on March 3rd at 11:59PM EST) and you’ll get 10% off any of these items. Nice.
