The Roasters Pack

Tim Wendelboe - Finca Tamana

This is the first international roaster featured by The Roasters Pack. We are honoured to be able to share the talented Tim Wendelboe with The Roasters Pack community!

Tim Wendelboe is a roaster from Oslo, Norway with an exceptional reputation within specialty coffee (he’s won the World Barista Championship and the World Cup Tasters Championship - aka he’s been crowned the best barista in the world and the best coffee taster in the world)!

When selecting coffees, Wendelboe focuses on quality and traceability. They roast light in the archetypal Scandinavian style, which attempts to showcase the terroir of where the coffee is from.

One of the coffees we have decided to bring in is a washed Colombian from Finca Tamana, a farm that Wendelboe has put a lot of effort into collaborating with the owner of the farm, Elias Roas!

Roa grew this coffee with a mix of Caturra and Colombia varieties. This blend is a staple of the Finca Tamana farm which has been lush in both varieties since Roa bought it in 2011.

“Both cultivars taste very similar here with pronounced sweet caramel and panela flavours with subtle fruity and herbal notes,” Wendelbow says of this cup.

The 2021 harvest has produced exceptional coffees. Partly because of the excellent growing conditions and partly because Roa adopted a new processing technique. This new technique has produced coffees with more pronounced fruit complexities.

Roa now ferments the coffee in cherry for 16-20 hours before depulping and again after for 24 hours in a stainless-steel tank.

Wendelboe buys coffee directly from Roa and has been since 2012. This coffee is an example of quality in both its taste and ethics. With our first international feature, Tim Wendelboe is an example of what the incredible coffee world has to offer. Join us on this (international) coffee adventure!
